California State University, Chico won two top awards at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) regional conference in San Francisco Dec. 8.

Residence Hall Programs Receive National Awards
California State University, Chico’s Department of University Housing and Food Service has received two honors this fall by national organizations for its residence hall programs.

Xueli Zou
Physics
Zou uses her experiences as a National Science Foundation research scholar to develop pedagogy for introductory physics courses. Zou speaks at academic meetings throughout the country and has co-authored two textbooks.
Cindy Daley
Agriculture
Daley's research activities enhance and promote sustainable agriculture, including sustainable waste management practices. She is spearheading the development of a Center for Organic Dairy Production in the West at the University Farm.
Alan Gibson
Political Science
Gibson is a specialist in American Constitutional Theory and the American founding, especially the political thought of James Madison.
Nitish Singh
Marketing
Singh heads the Localization Program for the College of Business, which trains users in the cultural aspects of E-business in an international setting. He authored The Culturally Customized Web Site.
Larry Hanne
Biological Sciences
Hanne's expertise is bioremediation and genetic engineering using prokaryotic systems. Hanne includes students in his research and helps place them in local clinical laboratory settings.
Cindy Wolff
Nutrition and Food Sciences
Wolff directs the Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion, the umbrella organization for six programs that promote nutrition education and physical activity in schools and community agencies in Northern California.
Lynn Houston
English
Houston researches food in American literature. She began this research as a Fulbright Scholar in Switzerland in 1994. Her dissertation was titled The Mad Cow Nexus: The Stakes/Steaks of Personhood in Global, Industrial Food Production.
